#SelfcareIsSupport: Mother’s Day Edition

Mother’s Day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. I would like to take the time before we dive in to express my gratitude for my mom, my creator, the lady in my life who has had the most influence on me. Our relationship is far from perfect but you, me & my brother make the perfect trio to get through these life happenings together. You have always been the epitome of strength, love and perseverance. No matter what, as a family we pushed through and you did your best with what we had. For this, I am ever grateful and it is the reason for my being. It is the reason for all that I am and all that I am becoming. Thank you, Mama for allowing me the freedom to be me and for your support in every single endeavor that I engulf myself in. You are always there, being my biggest fan. It means more to me than I could ever put into words. I wish to one day be half the woman that you are.  ♥

During this time, I must not fail to acknowledge the people who may be dealing with loss that makes this day not so celebratory. Whether it be the loss of a mother, mother figure, the loss of a child, or the loss of a relationship that once was with your maternal figure. I encourage you today to create a healthy space to talk about it, try not to isolate yourself, honor the memories that you still have and seek support by reaching out to someone who innerstands how you feel or who may be going through something similar. The bond between a mother and a child is the strongest relationship there is to experience, so there is absolutely no expiration date on grieving. If a friend or family member of yours is struggling with celebrating today or simply being happy about today, the goal is to not “cheer them up” but to graciously remind them that with you, they have space to express, they are loved, and they are supported.

Love who you have, while you have them.

More love, less judgement and simple acknowledgement can make a world of a difference.

Happy Mother’s Day to the Mother’s in heaven.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers on earth.

Happy Mother’s Day to all.

Moms, celebrate yourself today.

Be reminded of your strength.

Be reminded that you are supported.

Peace, Love & #HappyMothersDay ♥
