Let’s go ahead and get down to the real definition. It’s such a buzz word these days. We often see someone slap on a face mask and/or go to the nail salon (which is cool) and with the quickness, hashtag #selfcare, but I’m here to let you know that it’s deeper than that!
Selfcare comes in many different forms. You have:
- physical selfcare
- mental selfcare
- emotional selfcare
- spiritual selfcare
- professional selfcare
Eventually, we will tackle in depth what they all mean and how you can apply them to your life.
Self-care defined by me is “whatever makes your soul feel FULL” whether that is taking a hot bath, journaling, going to therapy or simply saying “no” when it is what is best for you.
It is in a nutshell, I would say that it looks like you identifying your emotions, acknowledging what you need and taking action to do something about it. We often fail to realize how simple selfcare can truly be, it’s kind of like math if you think about it…
ADD –> healthy, planned out selfcare routines.
SUBTRACT –> negativity and self doubt/putting yourself on the backburner.
MULTIPLY —> positive/healthy traits & your interactions with like-minded people.
DIVIDE —> draw the line and set boundaries as to WHEN, HOW and WHERE you will get your selfcare in.
Allow no one or nothing to come in between the beautiful relationship that you are creating with yourself.
TRUST ME, it’s essential so that you are able to be your best self in spite of what happens around you so this is why your selfcare should be your MAIN priority. You will thank yourself!
